The Ivanny Cardigan

Welcome to the free pattern for the Ivanny Cardigan! This is a beginner’s knitting pattern and is easily adjustable to your preferences! You can easily lengthen or shorten the cardigan, and you can make a solid color or a colorblock version of this sweater. This cardigan is my most comfortable handmade and I wear it nearly every day around the house in the fall and winter!

Materials:

Notes on Yarn: I used Red Heart Hygge Yarn for the white sweater sample and LionBrand’s Color Made Easy for the Colorblock version! You can use any size 5 yarn for this project though I definetly recommend the previous two brands! Another good brand to try is Paintbox Simply Chunky Yarn from Love Crafts!

You will need the following items to complete this project:

  • Yarn: 600-900 yards of a size 5 (“chunky” or “semi-bulky”) yarn
  • To make a Color Block version of this sweater use:

  • Needle sizes: US Size 10 (6.0mm) 40 inch circular needles. For the cuffs: US Size 9 (5.5mm) Double pointed needles.
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle
  • Stitch Marker

Abbreviations:

  • CO: Cast On
  • K: Knit
  • P: Purl
  • BOBind Off
  • DPNs: Double Pointed Needles
