Week 3!!

If you are here, you’ve made it more than halfway through! Yay you!!!

 

This week, we will be splitting the cardigan into front and back panels as shown above. These panels create the space for the armholes. 

 

Adult Sizes

 

The First Front Panel:

 

Row 1: Without finishing off, turn your work and HDC across 36, 45, 55 , 65 stitches. Place a stitch marker in the last stitch
Row 2: Turn and HDC back across your first front panel.
Row 3- 20, 20, 24, 26: Repeat Row 2 and F/O

 

The Back Panel:
Row 1: Attach your yarn in the stitch after the stitch you just marked, HDC across 54, 72, 90 stitches. Place a stitch marker in the last stitch
Row 2: Turn and HDC back across your back panel. (
Row 3- 20, 20, 24, 26: Repeat Row 2 and F/O

 

The Second Front Panel
Row 1:Attach your yarn in the stitch after the stitch you marked from the back panel, and HDC across 36, 45, 55 , 65 stitches. Place a stitch marker in the last stitch
Row 2: Turn and HDC back across your second front panel.
Row 3- 20, 20, 24, 26: Repeat Row 2 and F/O

 

Kid Sizes:

 

The First Front Panel:

The Back Panel:

Row 1: HDC across 29, 34, 36 , 41, 47, 51 stitches. Place a stitch marker in the last stitch
Row 2: Turn and HDC back across your back panel. (29, 34, 36, 41, 47, 51
Row 3- 8, 10, 12, 12, 14, 16: Repeat Row 2 and F/O

 

The Second Front Panel:
Row 1: Attach your yarn in the stitch after the stitch you marked from the back panel and HDC across 14, 16, 18 , 20, 23, 24 stitches. Place a stitch marker in the last stitch
Row 2: Turn and HDC back across your second front panel. (14, 16, 18, 20, 23, 24
Row 3- 8, 10, 12, 12, 14, 16: Repeat Row 2 and F/O

Week #2 June 8th- June 14th (Scroll Down for Week #1)

 Adult Sizes:

We will now be creating the gradual texture fade of the cardigan. All Adult Sizes will follow the same row instructions for this section.

Row 1: HDC across your row, placing 1 HDC into each stitch.

Row 2: LJS across your row. 

Row 3-5: Repeat Row 2

Row 6: HDC across your Row

Row 7: Repeat Row 6. 

Row 8: LJS across your row. 

Row 9-10: Repeat Row 8

Row 11: HDC across your Row

Row 12-14: Repeat Row 11

Row 15: LJS across your Row

Row 16: HDC across your row. 

Now each size will be differing in rows. Please see the below instructions for how many rows to crochet. 

S/M: Repeat Row 16 for 40 more rows
L/XL: Repeat Row 16 for 46 more rows
2X/3X:Repeat Row 16 for 48 more rows
4X/5X:Repeat Row 16 for 48 more rows

 

Baby And Child Sizes:

We will now create the  gradual texture fade. 

Row 1: HDC across your row

Row 2: LJS across your row

Row 3: LJS across your row

Row 4: HDC across your row

Row 5: HDC across your row

Row 6: LJS across your row

Row 7: HDC across your row. 

Now, follow the instructions below for the remainder of the body section.

 

6 months:Repeat Row 7 for 2 more rows
12/18 months:Repeat Row 7 for 2 more rows
2 years:Repeat Row 7 for 2 more rows
4 years:Repeat Row 7 for 2 more rows
6/8 years: Repeat Row 7 for 4 more rows

Week #1: June 1st- June 7th

Welcome to week one!
This week we will be gauging up ( this is a vital step), and we will be working the brim and start of the Lady Jackson stitches. This pattern is written in US terms! Let’s collect your materials, choose the size for you, and get started!

Materials:
+ DK weight yarn (size 3) NOTE: If you wanted to make a shorter cardigan, you could use less yarn!
S/M: 1492 yards
L/XL: 2095 yards
2X/3X: 3167 yards
4X/5X: 3687 yards
6 months: 223 yards
12/18 months: 365 yards
2 years: 433 yards
4 years: 539 yards
6/8 years: 683 yards
10/12 years: 882 yards

5.0mm crochet hook

Stitch Markers

 

Abbreviations:
SC: Single Crochet
HDC: Half Double Crochet
BLO: Back Loop Only
DC: Double Crochet
LJS: Lady Jackson Stitch (*2DC, 1SC in the same stitch. Skip 2 stitches*, Repeat from* to * across or around)

Sizes:
Measurements listed in Measured Bust: (This cardigan is written with zero ease which means the measurement of your bust should be the measurement of your finished garment’s bust)
S/M: 36 inches
L/XL: 42 inches
2X/3X: 51 inches
4X/5X: 58 inches
6 months: 17 inches
12/18 months: 19 inches
2 years: 21 inches
4 years: 23 inches
6/8 years: 26 inches
10/12 years: 28 inches

Notes:
Stitch Counts will be noted at the end of each row in parenthesis.

Each size will be noted in order from smallest to largest. EX: (S/M, L/XL, 2X/3X, 4X/5X)

FIRST: Gauge: 14 HDC by 10 HDC = 4×4 inch square

Adult Sizes:
The Bottom Border:
CH 12
Row 1: Turn, SC into the 2nd CH from the Hook and across (11)
Row 2: Turn, SC into the BLO and across your chain
Row 3-? Repeat the sequence of Rows 1 and 2 to form your bottom edging.
S/M: Stop after 126 rows
L/XL: Stop after 146 rows
2X/3X: Stop after 176 Rows
4X/5X: Stop after 200 Rows
Now, turn your bottom edging so that you are working across the top of your edging.
Row 1: Evenly place 126, 147, 177, 201 stitches across.
Row 2: Turn, LJS across. You should have (42, 49, 59, 67) clusters total
Row 3-? Repeat Row 2 for:
S/M: 20 rows total
L/XL: 22 rows total
2X/3X: 24 Rows total
4X/5X: 24 Rows total

Kid Sizes:

The Bottom Border:
CH 8
Row 1: Turn, SC into the 2nd CH from the Hook and across (7)
Row 2: Turn, SC into the BLO and across your chain
Row 3-? Repeat the sequence of Rows 1 and 2 to form your bottom edging.
6 months: Stop after 57 rows
12/18 months: stop after 66 rows
2 years: stop after 72 rows
4 years: stop after 81 rows
6/8 years: stop after 93 rows
10/12 years: stop after 33 rows
Now, turn your bottom edging so that you are working across the top of your edging.
Row 1: Evenly place 57, 66, 72, 81, 93, 99 stitches across.
Row 2: Turn, LJS across. You should have (19, 22, 24, 27, 31, 33) clusters total
Row 3-? Repeat Row 2 for:
6 months: 4 Rows total
12/18 months: 4 Rows total
2 years: 6 Rows total
4 years: 8 Rows total
6/8 years: 8 Rows total
10/12 years: 10 Rows total
